When I attended my first bible study after college I realized just how little scripture I knew. How did I go through being at church every Sunday and being raised in a small Christian church and not know scripture? So that was one of my prayers and goals - to know more scripture and hide it in my heart – Psalm 119:11.

At the same time, I was part of a women’s organization that had a silent auction every year to raise money for its projects. This particular year I wanted to make the items I donated instead of purchasing my donations. I had always loved to paint so I found some small frames at a garage sale, painted them gold and then painted single angels on watercolor paper to put in the frames. Someone saw these before the auction and bought them all. Then it was suggested that I put a verse at the bottom of the painting which I did for the next set of angels I painted. That is when the WORD sparked for me! I started painting more angels and bookmarks and put my newest found verses on them. Then I realized if I saw a verse everyday on my to do lists I might be able to memorize the verses! So notepads with scripture evolved…and there is no end to wonderful verses that can be memorized… or put on notepads. The idea of a placemat with ABC’s of scripture for children was created and then a box of blessings – little bright colored cards with verses and drawings. Friends would/will call me to say “I have a friend going through this trial or this situation, can you think of a good verse to give them?” I would search through the scriptures to find something that would offer encouragement or hope and put it on a notepad, bookmark or paint a small painting. As someone told me – my little business really was a ministry. I never had thought of it this way because it was ministering to my need – didn’t realize that it was ministering to others too – which became a double blessing! How God has blessed my desire to know His Word. My wish is to bless others with the gift of His Word through It’s the WORD.
